Preacher's Cake 

Cream; 1 c. brown sugar, 1 c. sugar, 1/2 c. shortening

Add; 2 beaten eggs

Sift together; 2 c. flour, 2 tsp. soda, 1/2 c. cocoa, 1/2 tsp. salt

Add cream to mixture alternately with 1/2 c. sour milk

Beating well after each addition. Then mix in 1 c. of boiling water and 1 tsp. vanilla. Place in a greased and floured 8 x 13" loaf pan or 2- 9" round layer pans. Bake at 350 for 30/35 minutes.

Snickerdoodles

1 c. shortening        1 1/2 c. sugar

2 eggs                      1 tsp. soda

2 3/4 c. flour             2 tsp. cream of tartar

1 1/2 tsp. salt

Mix ingredients together and form into balls. Roll in 2 tsp. cinnamon and 2 tsp. sugar. Bake on cookie sheet at 400 for 8-10 minutes.

Quick Cabbage Casserole

1 small cabbage                 1 can Cream of chicken soup

1/2 c. American cheese (shredded)              1/2 c. milk

1/2 c. bread or cracker crumbs                       1/2 tsp. salt

Cut cabbage into shreds and boil in salted water for 10 minutes. Drain in colander. Pore water over cabbage and drain twice. Mix soup, milk and cabbage, put into greased casserole. Put shredded cheese on top. Sprinkle buttered bread crumbs or cracker crumbs over top. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
